A month after I shipped my item I was billed an additional $6.62. I was given the following explanation via Parcel Monkey chat:
"Upon the order you stated the dimensions to be 74 lb (63 " x 23 " x 5 ") however when the item was weighed at the carriers i can confirm the dimensions were 62x22x5 in. 74.1 lbs / 33.61 kgs."
I was charged the equivalent of $66.20 per pound for the 0.10 pound of overage. The other 74 lbs was shipped at a cost of $93.35 or $1.26 per pound.
I was also told that "the carrier uses a laser method to measure the parcel and on measuring the provided measurement didn't match their result. It does mention during the booking process if parcel found to be misdeclared additional charges will be applied".
As seen above, the physical dimensions were actually smaller than I declared but Parcel Monkey saw it fit to cite this as part of the reason for the extra charge.
I am very dissatisfied and won't be using Parcel Monkey services again.Parcel Monkey replied on 03/04/2020

Kindly note it is important to declare the weight/dims accurately as it could also mean your package is too large or heavy to be shipped via the courier you selected via our shipping calculator.

You guys need to refund me my $11 cuz the dimensions in the wait was not wrong on this product and if you think it was then you need to show me a copy of where FedEx re-weighted and redid the dimensions to prove to me that it was

Hi Travis,
Unfortunately, this is not available because FedEx uses laser scans to measure the dimensions of the parcels they carry, not imaging of the packages. This is why they require pictures of the parcel with measurements in order to raise a dispute on the recorded dimensions.
If you have any pictures of your shipment that prove the measurements you provided at the time of booking were correct, then we kindly ask you to upload the pictures on the message thread for this order so we can then dispute the additional charge with FedEx.

When I received the package there was a 3" square tear at the bottom of one side, with a flap of cardboard still attached on one side of the hole and thankfully no small items fell out. The same side also had a dent up higher with a tear in the cardboard.
